Frequently Asked Questions
-
OCCS serves students from preschool (age 4) through 12th grade, one school family from a child’s first classroom to graduation. Our full-day preschool runs 8 AM to 3 PM, and our K-12 program builds on the same Abeka curriculum through high school.
-
OCCS teaches the Abeka curriculum from preschool through high school, the trusted Christian curriculum used by thousands of schools nationwide for over 50 years. Abeka pairs traditional academics (phonics-based reading, math fact mastery, spiral review) with a Biblical worldview in every subject.
-
Our student-teacher ratio is about 6 to 1, small enough that every teacher knows every student’s strengths, struggles, and story. Struggling students get help the same week, not at report-card time, and every child participates every day.
-
Preschool tuition is $347 per month for the first child and $315 for each additional child, plus a one-time $50 registration fee. We believe Christian education should be affordable for every family, so ask us about K-12 rates, multi-child discounts, and payment options.
-
Yes. New York public school districts provide free busing to OCCS for families within 15 miles, including Medina, Albion, Lyndonville, Holley, Barker, Roy-Hart, and Oakfield. Families outside the busing radius are welcome to drive in, and many do.
-
Yes. OCCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and our graduates earn diploma equivalency through the local public school district, keeping them fully eligible for college admission and financial aid. Recent graduates have earned honor-roll averages above 94 and multiple college acceptances.
-
Absolutely. Small classes mean real one-on-one attention, and the Abeka curriculum is rigorous, time-tested college prep. Our graduates leave with the study habits, character, and confidence to succeed, and have earned top SAT scores, state academic awards, and multiple college acceptances.
-
Wonderfully. Several OCCS families came from homeschooling. Because we teach with the Abeka curriculum that many homeschool families already know, the transition is smooth, and your child keeps the values of home while gaining classmates, structure, and support.
-
No. OCCS is non-denominational, and our families come from many different congregations across Orleans County. We simply ask every family to understand and support our Christian mission and Statement of Faith, since it shapes all we teach. The best way to see if we are a fit is to schedule a visit.
-
There’s no deadline. OCCS has rolling admissions and reviews applications year-round, and mid-year transfers are welcome. The best first step is scheduling a visit: call (585) 798-2992 or use our contact form, and we’ll set up a tour.
-
Three things: class size (6 to 1 versus 20-plus students per teacher), curriculum (time-tested Abeka academics taught from a Biblical worldview), and partnership. We see ourselves as an extension of your home, reinforcing what you teach your children. Every subject, every day, is taught by staff who model the Christian life.
